- You want to change the size or shape of your breasts
- Your original saline implants have deflated

- Significant implant rippling has occurred

- Breasts have sagged due to loss of skin elasticity or weight fluctuations
Surgical Techniques to Perform Breast Revision
Dr. Koltz will prepare a custom breast revision surgery plan after evaluating your physical factors and the reasons why you need an implant replacement or removal.
Implants of a New Size
If you want bigger or smaller implants, a breast revision may be performed using the original incision lines. In case of bigger sized implants, Dr. Koltz will first enlarge the breast pocket to accommodate the new implant. On the other hand, to place smaller implants, the existing breast pocket may be reduced in the size with sutures.
Before & After Gallery
Capsular Contracture
This condition occurs when the scar tissue enveloping the original implants becomes too tight and hard. Dr. Koltz will first remove the existing implants along with the breast capsule (scar tissue). Then using the same incisions, he will place the new breast implants.
Saline Implants Replacement
If the original saline implants have deflated or implant rippling has occurred, some women may want to replace them with same sized silicone implants. In this case, the surgeon will use the primary incision line to insert the new implant or create a new breast pocket first for more effective implant placement.
Wrong Position of Implants
If your primary breast augmentation surgeon made the mistake of creating implant pockets too close together or too far apart, your breasts may appear unnaturally positioned. In this case, Dr. Koltz may decide to manipulate the existing scar tissue and rebuild the correct pocket with suturing techniques.
Breast Implant Removal
For some reason, if you do not want an implant replacement and only want the existing implants to be removed, Dr. Koltz will perform a breast implant removal surgery. Both the implant and the breast capsule will be removed. In most cases, this surgery will be combined with a breast lift because the original breast tissue may have sagged over the years.
Post-Surgical Recovery
Recovery process for a breast revision surgery will be similar to your primary breast implant procedure. However, if you are combining a breast revision with breast lift, it may take slightly longer to recover. In general, you may be able to return to your normal routine in about one week after a breast revision. You will have to wear a special surgical bra for a few weeks to ensure safe healing following a breast revision.
