Facelift in Toledo

Aging is a fact of life, and as we get older, our faces will experience the effect of gravity. Our skin starts to thin and descend, and wrinkles and lines begin to form. The fullness that used to be in our cheeks as kids is not in our jowls and neck. Even outs facial bones change over time. Fortunately, with advanced technology and Dr Koltz’s advanced training, we are able to help your meet your goals in rejuvenating the face. A facelift and neck lift in Toledo can reduce and tighten any sagging skin and fat on the cheeks, lower jawline, and neck.

ABPS board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Peter Koltz has the experience, tools, and facilities necessary to help you enhance your natural beauty.

What Happens During a Facelift Procedure?

During a facelift procedure, a flap of skin on each side of the face is elevated from the underlying structures, moved to a more ideal location, and the deeper structures are elevated to a more youthful location. By combining these techniques and elevating things to a more appropriate anatomic location, your facial features will be rejuvenated to look like a younger, more refreshed version of you, NOT like a different person. Our goal is to give you a more youthful, rested appearance and shape. Frequently the fat in the face and neck may be removed, sculpted, or rearranged. We hide your incision in an area not able to be seen without searching for it.

A facelift is not necessarily a treatment for sun damage, superficial wrinkles, or small creases. This will help reduce sagging in the cheeks, reduce excess skin along the lower jawline, and lessen the skin folds along the sides of the nose and the mouth’s corners. It can also help remove sagging skin and excess fat in the neck area.

Your procedure will take place at pēkoMD’s new and fully operational treatment and surgical facility but may take place in a outpatient surgery center or hospital if necessary. Your procedure may require local anesthesia, or general anesthesia, which we can facilitate in our surgical center.

The incisions for the procedure depend on the techniques used and your preferences. A facelift can involve several different techniques:

Traditional Facelift

A traditional facelift incision starts at the hairline’s temples, moving down behind the ears to the lower scalp. Dr Koltz may also make incisions under the chin to create a younger look to the neck.

Neck Lift Incision

A neck lift incision begins at the front of the earlobe, moves around the ear to the lower scalp, and a small incision may also be made under the chin.

Limited Incision

A limited incision is a short incision beginning in the hairline above your ear, moving down in front of the ear, stopping just above the lower scalp.

Good Candidates for Facelift Surgeries

Patients who are healthy and wish to have a refreshed and natural-looking face are considered good candidates for a facelift. Typically patients have more loose skin or deeper wrinkles than can be addressed with non-surgical methods. Patients who take blood-thinning medications or have have medical conditions that may prevent blood clotting may not be the best candidates for a facelift. It is also important to be in otherwise good health for this elective procedure. Dr. Koltz can review your medical history and examine your face and individual anatomy to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

The Recovery Process

After a facelift, you may experience mild pain, tightness of your face and/or neck, swelling, minimal bruising, and some temporary numbness. You may have a drain for a short period of time. Pain is managed with oral medication as needed after surgery.
